The Life Zerosilibrine consortium, coordinated by Industrias Químicas del Ebro S.A. (IQE) in partnership with Eurecat, is proud to announce the publication of its Layman’s Report. This public document outlines the project’s success in developing an innovative solution to treat saline wastewater from precipitated silica production.

The report details how LIFE Zerosilibrine successfully applied Circular Economy principles to chemical industry. By utilizing technologies such as reverse osmosis, the project has validated a process that recovers resources rather than discarding them.

Key achievements highlighted in the report include:

Water Circularity: The potential to reuse more than 1.3 million m³ of water per year, reducing groundwater dependence by 70%.

Resource Recovery: The potencial to recovery of 18,500 tons/year of high-purity sodium sulfate, transforming a waste product into a commercial asset.

Zero Discharge: A validated model for Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) to natural water bodies.

With an full industrial unit scheduled for commissioning in 2026/2027, LIFE Zerosilibrine demonstrates a scalable path toward the EU Green Deal goals.
